2023 Presidency: Atiku Appeals To PDP Delegates For Support; Promises To Tackle Insecurity And Disunity

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has appealed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) delegates to support his presidential ambition.

The former Vice President made the appeal in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Sunday during a visit to PDP delegates in the state.

He said: “I have the right experience to tackle Nigeria’s challenges of insecurity and disunity. When our administration led by Olusegun Obasanjo came into power, we had similar challenges and we were able to solve them. If I become the president, I will ensure restructuring for this nation.”

Atiku also warned that the PDP might lose the coming Osun State governorship election.

The presidential aspirant met with ex-governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and factional candidate of the PDP, Senator Ademola Adeleke, at their homes before visiting party members at the PDP secretariat located in the Biket area.

He said: “There is something that worries me about this state, Osun. In the last election, it was the disagreement with PDP against PDP that made us lose the election. Now again, we are going towards the same crisis in 2022. One of the reasons I am here is to appeal for your unity ahead of the poll so that you can win, no matter the grievances.

“You can see what disunity cost in the last election and we lost it. Don’t let us repeat the same mistake; I beg of you the leaders and chieftains of the party. This election is the stepping stone to the general election and it is very key.”

He urged the caretaker committee chairman of the party in Osun to yield to the advice, to prevent the party from losing the coming governorship election.
