Popular singer, Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has won the Peoples Democratic Party’s rerun primary election in Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, Lagos.
Banky W won the election with 24 votes against his challenger Sam Aiboni, who polled a total of five votes.
The rerun was scheduled for today after the first primary last month was cancelled. The singer is seen as a favourite to clinch the ticket since he joined the main opposition party earlier this year.
The election was rescheduled after a dispute between Banky W and Mr Aiboni compelled the party’s leadership to intervene from Abuja, and a subsequent decision was made that a rerun should be held.
Banky W had initially won the ballot with 27 votes against Mr Aiboni, a Lagos businessman, who secured 2 votes.
