Barcelona set to sign Chelsea defender

Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen has agreed to join Barcelona on a free transfer in summer, when his current deal with the Blues will come to an end.

After finalising the signing of Racing Santander midfielder Pablo Torre, Barcelona are looking to further strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Christensen is prepared to accept Barcelona’s offer and sign a five-year deal with the Blaugrana.

As confirmed by MARCA, the Denmark international has not travelled to Barcelona and he is not planning to do so in the next few hours, but his agents are contemplating to fly to Catalonia to seal the agreement.

Barcelona made contact with Christensen’s representatives a few months ago. The Danish defender had several offers, but he demonstrated that Barcelona are his priority.

Meanwhile, club directors Jordi Cruyff and Mateu Alemany travelled to London to strike a deal with his agents, with Romano reporting that they are close to reaching a verbal agreement.

Next step would be for the two parties to put pen to paper on a deal that will see Christensen join the LaLiga Santander club.
