Few hours to the burial of Nnamdi Kanu‘s parents, soldiers have reportedly blocked the entrance to his family residence ahead of his parents’ burial in Abia state.
According to a statement posted on Facebook by Amnesty International (AI) Nigeria, residents of the community said, “they saw soldiers harassing people at Bank road while another man said he was prevented from going to his house by soldiers who blocked the road entrance to Eze Kanu’s palace.“
It has not been confirmed that soldiers truly blocked the entrance to the family residence of the leader of IPOB even though there is high level of security in the community.
Meanwhile, the ohaneze youths have earlier warned the Abia state commissioner of police, Mr Ene Okon to warn his men to stay clear of the burial venue.
The Federal Government declared IPOB a terrorist group in 2017, and the leader of the group, Kanu has been on the run ever since.
But Nnamdi Kanu says he would not miss the ceremony for anything in this world and also stated that it will be broadcast live.
