ESN: Five Soldiers Lost Their Lives In Auto Crash On Their Way To Hold Back Attack In Anambra

No fewer than five soldiers have lost their lives on Tuesday and others were severely injured after an MRAP (mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicle) had an accident in Anambra State.

It has been reported that the Nigerian soldiers from the 302 Artillery Regiment, General Support, Onitsha, Anambra State were heading to Ihiala to meet up with their colleagues at a checkpoint in the area after receiving information that members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) were planning an attack on the checkpoint.

Recall that the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, had in December 2020 launched ESN to secure the lives and property of the people of the South-East region from terrorists and bandits who were allegedly coming in from the North.

Kanu said ESN is an equivalent of Amotekun, otherwise known as the Western Nigeria Security Network, which was launched earlier by South-West governors to curtail insecurity in the region.

According to Kanu, “The sole aim and objective of this newly formed security outfit known as Eastern Security Network are to halt every criminal activity and the terrorist attack on Biafraland,” Kanu had said.

“This outfit, which is a vigilante group like the Amotekun in the South-West and the Miyetti Allah security outfit, will ensure the safety of our forests and farmland, which terrorists have converted into slaughter grounds and raping fields.” He said.
