Wizkid Loses Each Of His Two 2022 Grammy Nominations

Nigerian Afrobeats flagbearer, Wizkid, on the night of 3rd April, 2022 recorded two big losses at the 64th Grammy Awards that took place in MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, United States of America.

Wizkid who was nominated for the Best Global Music Album with his 2020 project titled Made in Lagos also got nominated for the Best Global Music Performance with Essence, a song featuring fellow Nigerian singer, Tems, off the album.

Faced with fellow Nigerians like Femi Kuti and Made Kuti amongst others in the Best Global Music Album category, Wizkid lost to Beninese female legend, Angelique Kidjo who easily clinched the award for the fourth time with her 2021 album titled Mother Nature.

Arooj Aftab

As though that was not enough, Wizkid’s global hit, titled Essence featuring Tems, noted for its great cultural reset across the United States, lost the Best Global Music Performance to world industry newbie, Arooj Aftab and her song titled Mohabat in what became the Pakistani singer’s first Grammy nomination and first Grammy win.
